Girls Rule The World- A Women's Day celebration with Emalyth

Let me just start by saying holy shit! I have not been this overwhelmed after a gig in a long time. Not only did I have a damn good time partying, but I also couldn't be more in awe of all the ladies who contributed to this event. It was rather refreshing to see so much moxie involved in the industry. Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the raw talent that Marcita (Keets Productions) holds in her photos. I would strongly advise checking out her work. I was extremely impressed with how luminous and vivid each of her pictures is. You have to agree, it's not easy taking pictures of a bunch of metalheads.

Apocalypse Later kicked off the night with an energetic performance and even though the set felt too short, there could not have been a better start to the night. It's impossible not to move during their shows. Polar Dust followed shortly after, with some seriously cool electro-rock/post-punk vibes, and of course, underwear flying around.

It was quite hard to take your eyes off Posthumous, with their melodic death metal sound and progressive style. Callysta (guitar) is an absolute gem. The band with the best sense of humour on the night, Omentum, gave the saying 'men are trash' a whole new meaning. Sporting some chic trash bags as merch, only on the male band members of course. I sure do appreciate a doom band with three bassists. Girls just wanna have fuzz, you know.

Naturally the heavy hitters Hiraeth and Riddlebreak had us all headbanging to some good ole' classic core breakdowns and beautifully pitched vocals. They also rock a good stage performance and interaction with the crowd, which is a necessity, in my opinion.

Which brings us to Terminatryx, who killed it with their mix of industrial goth and alternative. Their ominous sound and beautiful long hair had us all under their spell. They also synced eerily well to their overhead projections. I do applaud their cinematic style.

But okay, seriously, Sistas of Metal, am I right? What an epic end to the night. What an incredible conglomerate of musicians. What an amazing performance. It was my first time watching them perform and I was speechless (but still headbanging) and ecstatic to see so many female musicians collaborating.

This whole evening was very special and I couldn't have spent my Women's Day at a better event. Well done to Sash and all involved. Emalyth has done it again!
